Christine Hogg

Christine Hogg was educated at Sheffield University and Oxford. She has a wide experience in research projects, consultancies and training in health and social policy, working with both voluntary and statutory organisations, mainly around promoting the views of patients and public.

WIDE EXPERIENCE
She has worked for the voluntary sector, various health authorities and trusts as well as the Department of Health. She has undertaken research on many aspects of health policy and user involvement for such bodies as the National Consumer Council.

EXPERT ON PUBLIC & PATIENT INVOLVEMENT
In 2001, with Lindsey Graham, she undertook the scoping study on arrangements for patient and public involvement at national level, resulting in proposals for the Commission for Patient and Public Involvement in Health.

In 2002 she was Project Manager for the Transition Advisory Board that was set up by the Department of Health to advise on the implementation of the new arrangements for patient and public involvement in England.

AUTHOR
Her book Patients, Power and Politics was published by Sage in 1999. She is an Honorary Research Associate at the London Metropolitan University and is an Associate, National Children's Bureau.

Her other publications on the themes of participation and complaint handling include Beyond the Patient's Charter: working with users (Health Rights 1994), In Partnership with Patients: Involving the Community in General Practice (National Consumers Council 1995) and How to Make a Complaint: A Guide for Patients (Patients Association 1996).

CHRISTINE AT M-A-C
With the M-A-C Partnership, Christine has developed the revised guidance for the NHS Complaints Procedures in Wales and the linked training programme for front-line NHS staff (March 2003) and developing the independent review scrutiny procedures for CHAI (September 2003).
