Rebecca Macnair
Rebecca trained as a nurse and midwife in London and Scotland, and worked as a midwife in London and Kenya.
COMMUNITY HEALTH, RESEARCH AND EVALUATION EXPERTISE
She has a Masters degree in Community Health from Edinburgh University. She has a wide range of experience in the NHS, the voluntary sector, in research and in overseas aid and development.
She includes practical research in her portfolio and has a particular interest in questionnaire design and data analysis.
HEALTH SERVICE EXPERIENCE
Rebecca has a wide range of health service experience in the UK and in developing countries, both in primary and secondary care. She has worked in service improvement in two London Cancer Networks, and has a particular interest in palliative care.
Rebecca was a Gold Standards Framework Facilitator for two London PCTs, helping GP practices implement this model of good practice for managing palliative care in the community.
VOLUNTARY SECTOR EXPERIENCE
She has worked in short term consultancy, project management and training for a number of voluntary sector organisations. Areas of interest have included provision of patient information and staff management. Her report ‘Room for Improvement’ led to the establishment of the charity People in Aid.
She recently completed consultancy work for Help the Hospices enabling them to prepare the 2006 report for World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, supported the ‘Widening Access’ working group and developing workshops for hospices on improving access to hospice care for disadvantaged groups, developing webpages for the hospices’ non-cancer agenda, researched the NHS and voluntary sector policy on palliative care provision for patients with diseases other than cancer and managed the development of a web based publication for Hospice Information.
She chairs the international development organisation Healthlink Worldwide, which works with “over 50 partners worldwide, mobilising innovative knowledge and communication processes; empowering people to voice their health needs and have those voices heard”.
REBECCA AT M-A-C
As a clinical associate consultant, Rebecca has a leading role in the motor neurone disease commissioning project to elaborate the health, care and equipment pathways and include intelligence about good practice gained from a range of health and social care professionals in the NHS, local authority and 3rd sectors.
