Angela Haden
Angela Haden is one of Europe's most respected technical editors. She also writes reports of conferences
held by UN agencies such as the ITU (International Telecommunication Union). She teaches technical writing
in English for the School of Translation and Interpretation at Geneva University.
WORLD HEALTH
She has edited over 30 publications for the World Health Organization, including the landmark World Health
Report 2000 - Health Systems: Improving Performance. Her recent writing assignments include a series of fact
sheets for the World Alliance for Patient Safety. She has recently edited the WHO Multi-country Study on
Women's Health and Domestic Violence against Women.
WORLD ENVIRONMENT
Working from time to time for the United Nations Environment Programme, she has written reports of meetings
of the UNEP Mediterranean Action Plan. She also edited the WHO/UNICEF Global Water Supply and Sanitation
Assessment 2000 Report, as well as summarizing the findings of that report for inclusion on the related website.
More recently, she edited the 2005 update of the report.
INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS
As a regular contractor for the International Telecommunication Union, over the past decade she has co-written
the minutes of some 30 meetings of the Radio Regulations Board, as well as reporting on meetings of ITU
Council, world radiocommunication conferences, plenipotentiary conferences and ITU-TELECOM.
RECOGNISED LEADER OF HER PROFESSION
As a President of AITC (Association internationale des traducteurs de conference) for two terms 2003-2005
and currently President of the AITC Negotiating and Liaison Committee, Angela Haden has made an outstanding
contribution to the recognition, standing and working conditions of freelance professionals working in
language services. She has recently become a member of the European Association of Science Editors.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Following an Honours BSc in Mathematics at St Andrews University, Angela Haden worked for Cambridge University
Press and the Schools Council of England before moving to Geneva. She is a Swiss citizen.
